If you have been itching to learn how to play the game that everyone is talking about, this is your chance! We are offering a daytime class of American Mahjong 101 for complete beginners who are looking to learn the American version of this fun and challenging game. This is a 3-night workshop where you will play the game in a welcoming and social environment with other beginners.

This course will be held July 8, 15, & 22 2026 from 10:00AM-1:00PM at Art Workz Creative Studio, 11 Chestnut st. 2nd floor Amesbury, MA

You’ll learn the basic rules and strategies and be guided through your very first game on night one! We are so excited to have our instructor Merri-Lee offer these classes in our new studio space! She is knowledgeable and patient, and will have you playing with confidence in no time at all. Come catch the Mahjong bug!

Each table needs 4 players, so seats are limited! Only 12 seats available:

Before registering, please be mindful that each table requies 4 people, so if you cancel, you will impact 3 other players who are planning to play.

Terms & Conditions:

***Once you have registered, there are NO REFUNDS FOR WORKSHOPS. If you have an emergency and can't make the session, please let us know (renee@hsnewburyport.com)as soon as possible. If you notify us within 72 hours of the class, we may be able to trasnfer your seat to a future Mahjong 101 class if there is space.

***Each guest attending the workshop must have a ticket due to limited space and materials.

** Make sure to EMAIL us at: Renee@hsnewburyport.com if you can not attend a workshop. If you do not show up for a workshop and do not notify us, you forfeit your payment & project. We only hold projects for up to 60 days - after 60 days you forfeit your payment & project.

Cancellation Policy

Once your order has been submitted we are immediately beginning the process of production of your personalized stencil. If you would like to cancel your reservation, you must give a minimum of 48 hour notice.

Please note a restocking fee of 30% of the total amount of the workshop will be deducted from your refund. Same day cancellations or no-shows will not be eligible for a refund. Cancellations will be processed on the day we receive your cancellation request. It may take up to 2 weeks for the refund to return to the account you used to purchase your items.

Hammer & Stain reserves the right to make any amendments to this policy at any time. Notification of any changes will be published on this page. If you have any inquiries regarding cancellations or any of our other policies please contact us.

Guest Policy

Unless otherwise specified in the workshop description, unregistered
guests are not permitted to attend any workshop, whether it is a public
workshop or private party. Bringing an unregistered guest will result in the guest being asked to leave as this interferes with the attention and experience of our registered makers. Makers can inquire about purchasing a guest seat but the request will be subject to
approval.

Personalization & Wood Policy

I confirm that all design choices and/or personalized information is correct and I understand that no changes can be made once this reservation is placed. This is a WOOD workshop so your project will have random cracks, chips, knots, and other natural blemishes that give it it's characteristics. Some peeling may occur. We will do our best to minimize disturbances to the words and make everything look intentional. Please keep in mind, no piece is absolutely perfect, as it is hand crafted but it will certainly be wall worthy!
